Scott-Patrick Mitchell – 3 poems

sarx is for the living

in the dark heart of death, the
sarcophagus will eat your flesh

, tongue pressure to push undone
god’s imagining. contraction has

gone, cells will succumb, unravel
as it is 7even into 11even, for the

leftover equation. in z lines the
filaments unfasten. actin slash

myosin swell to blot out big the
microscope of sarcomeres. fibre

distance between disc, fling electric

impulse, nerves end. dance like
the king is dead & bury him with

everything he ever had. entombed
womb: gestate secrets & consume
.

earring listening

hammer
, anvil & stirrup

: oscillate auditory
labyrinth .

the smallest bone
humaning the body

rides sound far &
long, bangs drum

, makes window’s
thrum, stampedes

on

toward hearings major
capacity. cock your head

, be led, watering whole
drunk ears are organs
.

in visioning

eyes orbital
roll back to

socket pull
: skeletal the

system, scry
skulls ceiling

. satellite is muscular

. strong is the visual

. inner walls are a
delicacy, susceptible

. injuries circumspect
when you see the

world, when you
see too much. be

peripheral

before it consumes the
visionary hiding behind

eyelid fold. invert fields
fully & blink to reassure
.

About gobbet

gobbet is a literary magazine dedicated to publishing the very best experimental poetry and prose. Intellectual perversity and explorations of dark themes are positively encouraged. We are only interested in work that is progressively experimental. We want to see risks, and we want to see them pay. No previously published work. Prose should not be longer than 1000 words. There are always exceptions. Send 3-5 poems. Include a short bio. Send submissions to gobbetmag@hotmail.co.uk Work will be published every 5-10 days. We also intend to publish anthologies of selected work published in gobbet. We will do our best to reply promptly. Most submissions will receive a decision within a month.
